A Not-so-thrilling Adventure in Jambi

This blogsite was created to commemorate our not-so-thrilling-adventure in Jambi, 7-8 May 2005. 16 Jakarta's hungry-for-entertainment travellers* went to Jambi to attend one of our best friend's wedding, Sulistyo Yuwono (bin Suyoto) who finally found his life destination in Nurhilali (binti Lakoni). Such a big hope was marked in each of the traveller's mind, hoping not only to attend the wedding, but also to look for some "fun" Jambi has to offer.

But alas, Jambi is just a plain little town. The nearest tourist attraction is in Kerinci, 10 hours drive from Jambi, or even Batam, with 6 hours combination transportation mode of car and ferry. So our tourist destination is limited to Novotel (our hotel plus its entertainment places), Matahari Department Store (if you call that a tourist destination), Pasar "Angso Duo" (haiyaaa...), and perhaps, "Getek" trip to cross Batanghari river (*duh*). Such a lame place for these travellers, unfortunately.

But worst of all, our "Korlap" for this visit, arranged our trip in the frame of "maximizing the adventure time". We left Jakarta as early as 7 am in the morning, and booked our return flight the next following day at 5.10 pm. Nice idea. But after realizing Jambi's lack of attraction, this idea was brought in questions by the travellers in countless occassions. Sorry Cika, next time, kita pulang hari aja ya? Hehehe...

Anyway, travelling with your friends did help to save the "sour" moments. We managed to had a lot of laughs and look for some "fun" during our trip. Most of them are looking for place to eat, eat and eat. Aside of repeating culinary visit to "Selamat" pempek house, we had a satisfying dinner in "Tanggo Rajo" restaurant, tried the taste of "Mie Celor" and ultimately, a great Malay-style food in the wedding itself. Finally, we had a lot of fun, and a lot of stories to share about.

And that's why this blog is created. To share to all travellers, the bride and the groom, and the friends connected with us, our not-so-thrilling adventure in a not-so-thrilling-province capital of Jambi.... You are free to put your comments or photos in this blogsite. Have fun!

Seru!
Buat Iben, as usual, the best creative idea!
